Since 2014, The Broadway Intensive has partnered with the Pioneer High School Theatre Guild to offer week-long summer camps for students passionate about musical theatre performance.
Our mission is to uphold a professional-level rehearsal ethic in which focus, curiosity, and inclusion are at the heart of the work. We do not hold auditions. Instead, every camper is given the opportunity to read many roles and sing many solos during our weeklong rehearsal process, encouraging exploration, risk-taking, and growth in a supportive environment.
During each week-long session, campers immerse themselves in scenes, music, and choreography centering a specific Broadway show, developing their skills in a focused, collaborative environment.
We are proud to bring the excellence and rigor of U-M’s Musical Theatre training to our campers. University of Michigan Musical Theatre students serve as camp counselors and teaching assistants, providing mentorship, leadership, and hands-on support throughout the week.
Campers are grouped by age and rotate daily through music, scene work, and dance. Each week culminates in a group performance that celebrates the work, growth, and collaboration of all students.

Meet Our Founders
Chelsea and Geoff Packard are Broadway actors on the faculty at the University of Michigan. Chelsea has performed on Broadway in WICKED, BEAUTIFUL (The Carole King Musical), PROMISES PROMISES, and HANDS ON A HARDBODY. Geoff has performed on Broadway in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, ROCK OF AGES, MALTILDA, and BANDSTAND, as well as on the National Tours of PHANTOM and WICKED. Geoff recently worked on the directing team of the new Broadway musical based on the music of Huey Lewis, called THE HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL.
Chelsea teaches private voice in the Musical Theatre Department at U of M, and Geoff teaches acting, directing, and performance classes in the Theatre and Musical Theatre Departments.
